Boehly is under increasing pressure from Chelsea fans

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has broken his silence as the pressure continues to ramp up on him.

The Blues dropped points again on Saturday, drawing 2-2 at home to relegation-threatened Burnley and in recent weeks fans have directed x-rated chants including: “Boehly, Boehly, you’re a c***” in protest to the performances.

To make matters more frustrating, Burnley even had 10 men and the result pretty much confines Chelsea to another year of mid-table mediocrity.

After the game Mauricio Pochettino called on supporters to “trust the process” – a line repeatedly used since Boehly arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2022.

Boehly addresses supporters

Rather than address the Chelsea fanbase via any of their own channels, Boehly opted to speak to them via the means of Forbes magazine.

He said: “We just need to let the process develop and give them the time to go from being unbelievable individual players with great skills to fold into a team.

“The good news is people care so much. And the bad news is people care so much.

“That leads to times when they’re frustrated with the team and the owners. I get that, but we just have to continue to stay the course.”

Boehly to move on in the future

Time is ticking on Boehly’s spell at the head of the table, which will come to an end in 2027.

As part of an agreement between the American co-owners they can pass the chairmanship between themselves every five years

No decision has been made on who will replace Boehly, but it is likely that one of Behdad Eghbali or Jose Feliciano, will take the reigns until 2032. At that point, Boehly would have the option to return and reclaim his minority stake if he wished.

Meanwhile on the pitch, Chelsea face Manchester United on Thursday.
