Former Chelsea, Middlesbrough, Newcastle United and Real Madrid midfielder Geremi has reportedly filed for divorce after discovering that two children were fathered by his wife’s ex.

According to court papers in Cameroon via The Sun, Geremi discovered through a DNA test this his wife Laure’s previous husband was the biological father of the two twins, born in 2008.

The documents, which were leaked to media in Yaounde, alleged that she “destroyed the harmony” of their marriage “through her abject behaviour” and “repeated lies.”

Court papers added: “No children have been born from this union… [and] the discovery that the children were from her previous partner destroyed the couple’s harmony.”

Geremi has said that the news has “psychologically damaged him” and left him with a “huge emotional shock”.

He continued by stating that the recent revelation was a “serious and renewed violation of the duties and obligations of marriage,” which came after a paternity test.

After winning a Spanish league and two Champions League titles with Real Madrid, the Cameroon international would spend a season on loan at Middlesbrough moving to Chelsea in 2003.

During his four-year spell at Stamford Bridge, Geremi would win the Premier League twice before going on to join Newcastle, staying there for two years.

Stints in Greece and Turkey would follow before retirement in 2011 and he now works closely with FIFPRO, the players’ union. He’s also expressed his desire to manage in the future and also writes a column documenting African football.
