‘Time Traveller’ who correctly predicted Euro 2020 final shares World Cup ‘winner’

A 'time traveller' who claims to have accurately predicted the Euro 2020 final is causing a stir on social media over which team is going to leave Qatar with the Jules Rimet Trophy. While most of us are watching the group stage games and are still coming to grips with the odd upset - like Saudi Arabia beating Argentina - one TikTok user - with the apt handle, @worldcuptimetraveller - has already watched all the games. The account – previously under a different name - is said to have rightly predicted that football wasn't 'coming home' when the Three Lions took on Italy in the Euro 2020 final. While there's a similar buzz surrounding England’s chances at this year’s World Cup in Qatar - after the team's 6-2 demolition of Iran and draw against the US - the time traveller suggests 2022 is not our year. Probably not a wild guess, we last held the trophy in 1966. A video posted Saturday, saying "helping you out like last year", the 'time traveller' showed Brazil players celebrating a 2-1 victory. The caption read: “Brazil just beat France in the 2022 World Cup Final.” Again, not a wild guess. Brazil have won the trophy more than any other country and France are the reigning champs. Spain and Argentina are the next top picks. The time traveller’s clip has been viewed almost 20 million times on TikTok and has almost two million likes. In the comments, one person wrote: “Na it’s going to be Brazil v England in the final.” Another said: “I’m coming back here on December 18.” “Of all the things a time traveller could reveal, they decide to tell us who wins the World Cup." One commenter made a pretty good point: “'Like last year', bro forgot the World Cup is once ever FOUR years."

The account was slammed after a video claimed to predict the correct scoreline of Qatar’s opening World Cup match against Ecuador, which finished 2-0 to Ecuador. One person wrote: “They make many private videos of different scores and when the match ends he makes the correct score public.” Brazil is due to face Switzerland on Monday, while France face Tunisia on Wednesday. England are due to play Wales on Tuesday at 7pm.
