There was one very awkward moment during the Donald Trump and Angela Merkel photo-op

It's so uncomfortable to watch we almost recommend that you don't. Almost

The first meeting between American President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel could have gone better.

While the two leaders hold some very different opinions on some very big topics, neither could comfortably hide just how awkward it was when those differences were brought up during the press conference.

That didn’t stop Trump from throwing shade toward Obama, when he said to Merkel:

“As far as wiretapping, I guess, by this past administration, at least we have something in common perhaps,” – referring to his own allegations as well as the 2013 story that the former President had been monitoring Merkel’s mobile phone.

However, Merkel failed to respond to this statement from Trump, responding with a facial expression of pure bewilderment.

All of that pales in comparison when you look at the photo-op the two shared later on, when the press pack ask Trump to shake hands with Merkel.

Merkel faces Trump for the handshake, but Trump just kind of stares into space, ignoring her completely.

It’s so uncomfortable to watch we almost recommend that you don’t. Almost.
