One person is dead and four wounded after a shooting at YouTube’s headquarters in San Bruno, California, police say.

The San Bruno police chief said that the deceased, a woman, could be the shooter and appeared to die from a self-inflicted gunshot.

A YouTube employee, Vadim Lavrusik, posted on Twitter to say that he had heard shots and saw people running while at his desk.

Lavrusik said that he was then barricaded inside a room with co-workers before later reporting that he was safe, having been evacuated from the building.

Swat teams are believed to have stormed the building and a witness said they saw “blood dripping down the stairs” of the tech firm’s offices.

Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital said they had received three patients, whose conditions were described as “One fair, one serious, one critical. Two women, one man.”

The Stanford Health Care health system has said it is treating four to five people from the shooting.

Around 1,700 people work in YouTube’s building, some people have been evacuated. Live footage shows people leaving the office with the hands raised before being patted down by law enforcement officers.

President Trump has been briefed at the White House.

At a press conference San Bruno Chief of Police Ed Barberini said: “On arrival officers encountered victims fleeing from the building. Officers located two victims with gun shot wounds, one of which appeared to be self-inflicted.”

“One subject is deceased with a self-inflicted wound that we believe to be the shooter.

“The investigation is still ongoing.

“We are clearing the building and searching the building.”
