A second earthquake has struck in south-eastern Turkey, with its epicentre near the city of Kahramanmaras, according to reports.

I know it is difficult to follow, but last night M7.8 earthquake in Turkey has just been followed by a M7.7 (preliminary) 20 min ago. It will add to the damage and further complexify the response. Our thoughts are with all the affected people and their loved ones 🙏

The second quake came just hours after a huge 7.8 magnitude tremor hit Turkey and Syria.
The BBC reports that the latest estimates are that 320 have died in Syria alone, with at 912 having been killed in Turkey.
The tremor’s damage has centred on southern Turkey and Syria, but it was also felt in nearby Lebanon, Gaza and Cyprus.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described the earthquake as the country’s largest disaster since 1939. He said a further 5,383 people were wounded. One thousand people are reportedly wounded in Syria.
