21 school kids injured after two dogs attacked their playground

Some 21 school children and teachers in Missouri, USA, have been injured after a pair of dogs managed to get onto their playground earlier this week. By the time the situation was under control, 18 students and three teachers were left injured from the attack. Students between the ages of 10 and 12 were on their school break outside Willard Intermediate South in Missouri when two pit bull mixes entered the unfenced area and began to attack. Teachers at this point stepped in to protect the students but were also injured. Thankfully, the Springfield News-Leader reports that most of the injuries were minor, with the publication saying that three teachers and three students had bites or other injuries that required medical attention. The other students that were injured had sustained theirs through the chaos that ensued. School nurses then provided medical care until emergency services arrived at the scene of the incident. Animal control officers then told KYTV that one of the dogs involved in the attack had not been vaccinated against rabies and the owners of the dog couldn't give proof of vaccination for the other. Thankfully, the two dogs both tested negative for the disease and the owners have voluntarily surrendered the dogs and they were later euthanised. The following day, the school had an indoor lunch break as it was the last day before Christmas break and most students were fit enough to return that day. Related links:
