This Serbian couple are unhappy with Ryanair’s treatment following incident.
On July 10th, a broken window aboard flight FR1879 from Thessaloniki to Memmingen, made headlines as 61 year old Ljubisa Karovic was sucked out of his window.
His wife (Svetlana Grkovic Maksimovic) and other passengers kept him from flying off the plane by grabbing onto his legs.
The incident, described as a horror scenario by the couple, has left serious scars as these two attempt to move on.
Svetlana stated that ‘nobody from the airline has been in touch with either of us’, leaving the couple to believe the company has taken little to no accountability towards the events.
The couple believe they will be ‘dealing with the aftermath of this for a very long time’.
However, despite the wounds and aftermaths, Ryanair have come back to the couple with an email regarding their flight by treating it as an inconvenience.
As stated by Ljubisa to Daily Mail: ‘All we’ve had is emails to my son, who booked our flights, asking if we want to rebook and asking how I was.
'But nobody from the company has contacted me directly, not even a phone call to show any concern.’
The couple has taken action against Ryanair, represented by Greek lawyer Vasilis Tsiaras, who has vowed to secure ‘significant compensation’ for them.
Ljubisa and Mr. Tsiaras believe the incident was provoked by a failure from the right engine, causing a piece to collide with Ljubisa’s window.
In the meantime, Ryanair CEO, Michael O’Leary, broke silence, dismissing the claim that Ljubisa was “sucked out” of the airplane window and going as far as describing the events as "nonsensical".
More to come as the story unfolds.
