He accused the UK of being involved in the attack

The Russian ambassador has said that Ukraine's recent attack is risking escalating the conflict into World War III.

Speaking to Sky News, Russian ambassador to the UK Andrei Kelin said that such attacks by Ukraine were escalating the conflict towards World War III, and that the UK have a heavy helping hand in that.

He said that Ukraine's actions "are bringing the conflict to a different level of escalation", and that Kyiv should "not try to engulf World War III".

"That's the very worst case scenario that we can imagine," he added.

Over last weekend, Ukraine carried out a modern day Trojan Horse operation, shipping over a hundred drones deep into Russian territory where they attacked a nearby airbase, causing devastation.

The attack saw 40 warplanes destroyed in an attack so significant it is being compared to Pearl Harbour.

Russia suspects Ukraine must have had help in carrying out the attacks, and suggested the UK likely played a part.

He said: "[This] kind of attack involves, of course, provision of very high technology, so-called geospaced data, which only can be done by those who have it in possession. And this is London and Washington.

"I don't believe that America [is involved], that has been denied by President Trump, definitely, but it has not been denied by London.

"We perfectly know how much London is involved, how deeply British forces are involved in working together with Ukraine."

Kelin finished: "It is up to the Ministry of Defence to make a right solution, but we have to respond to it."

A Downing Street spokesperson said: "We never comment on operational matters at home or abroad."

Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Putin told him "very strongly" that Russia "will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields".

The US President then said he had spoken to Putin on the phone for over an hour.
