Netflix has released the first trailer for Run Away, the latest thriller from best-selling author Harlan Coben (Fool Me Once, Lazarus, The Stranger).
Releasing on the streaming giant on New Year's Day, the eight-part series will see James Nesbitt (who appeared in the previous Coben projects Missing You and Stay Close) play the lead character.
The show follows Simon Greene (Nesbitt), a man who had the perfect life - a loving wife (Minnie Driver, Good Will Hunting) and kids, a great job, and a beautiful home - until his eldest daughter, Paige (Ellie de Lange, The Serpent), ran away and everything fell apart.
So, when Simon tracks Paige down, finding her vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park, he is delighted that he can finally bring her home.
"But it turns out she’s not alone, and an argument escalates into shocking violence," the plot synopsis adds.
"In the aftermath, Simon loses his daughter all over again, and his search to find her will take him into a dangerous underworld, revealing deep secrets that could tear his family apart forever."

Adapted from a novel by Coben, Run Away co-stars Alfred Enoch (Harry Potter) and Ruth Jones (Gavin & Stacey).
The author's frequent collaborator, Danny Brocklehurst (Fool Me Once, The Stranger), will serve as lead writer on the series.
The series is one of 13 titles from bestselling author Harlan Coben produced for Netflix. The other shows are Caught, Fool Me Once, Gone for Good, Hold Tight, The Innocent, Just One Look, Missing You, Safe, The Stranger, Stay Close, The Woods, as well as the upcoming I Will Find You.
Fool Me Once remains in Netflix’s chart of its Top 10 most popular English-language shows of all time, with over 98 million views since its launch in January 2024.
Brocklehust and Coben were also behind the Prime Video thriller series Lazarus, which was just released a few weeks ago. We spoke to the pair about that project, and you can read about that conversation here.
