Rockstar Games have announced another major GTA VI delay as a new release date has been given for the most intensely anticipated video game ever.
Fans of the franchise will be gutted to hear the latest news that GTA VI has once again been delayed as the developers took to X last night to share the news.
Posting to X, Rockstar Games explained that the game has been delayed and apologised for the update.
The post read: "Hi Everyone, Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.
"We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."
In a thread underneath the post the developers added: "We want to thank you again for your patience and support.
"While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City. Sincerely, Rockstar Games."
The post has had a mind-boggling 70 million impressions on X.
While the news is of course a blow for many fans of the iconic game, most replies to the news on X were rather positive in tone, reflecting a desire for a good product rather than a rushed one.
One person responded: "Take all the time you need. I still haven’t finished the GTA5 story mode after all this time cause I get distracted with other games easily."
Another wrote: "Every delay = better game. Can’t wait to see the finished product! Y’all have been cooking hard on this one."
Meanwhile, one fan replied: "Love is a long road. We’re with you."
GTA VI is one of the most anticipated games of all time and its release is likely to seep into becoming more of a cultural phenomenon than just a game.
Since its first instalment in November 1997, the franchise has sold almost half a billion copies.
