Robert Downey Jr FaceTimed Johnny Depp following jury verdict

‘John, thank God it’s over’

Robert Downey Jr. video called Johnny Depp in the moments after the jury gave their verdict in the multi-million dollar defamation trial between Depp and Amber Heard.

A close friend of Depp’s, Josh Richman, was appearing during a charity live stream event for the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles when he revealed the conversation between the two actors took place.

Downey Jr. apparently told the Pirates of the Caribbean star over FaceTime: “John, thank God it’s over.”

Richman said that when the jury delivered their verdict, Depp was “stoic” in a UK hotel room while his friends and staff “cried and screamed” around him.

He added that “even Jeff Beck flipped off the television screen.”

A spokesman for Depp confirmed to the New York Post that Downey Jr. FaceTimed the actor after the verdict was announced.

During the charity live stream, Richman also revealed that Depp had not intended for his ex Kate Moss to testify during the trial, but that she decided to once she saw Heard take the stand.

According to Richman, Moss saw Heard’s testimony and became “p***ed” and was “like, f**k this.”

In an interview released this week, Amber Heard has broken her silence on the outcome of her defamation trial with Depp.

The Aquaman actor told the TODAY show that she understood why the jury in Fairfax County, Virginia, last month found she had defamed Depp.

“I don’t blame them. I actually understand. He’s a beloved character and people feel they know him,” Heard said of the Pirates of the Caribbean actor. “He’s a fantastic actor.”

Heard also branded the representation she received on social media throughout the trial as “unfair.”
