"It's a case that's gone unsolved and hopefully one day we can change that."
Authorities in Nevada have confirmed this week that they have served a search warrant of a house in connection with the 1996 killing of rapper, Tupac Shakur.
Shakur, one of the most important figures in hip-hop and music history as a whole, was killed nearly 30 years in a drive-by-shooting near the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane in Las Vegas.
The legendary rapper was returning from a Mike Tyson fight, seated in a car alongside Marion 'Suge' Knight, head of Death Row Records.
The pair stopped at a red light when a white Cadillac pulled up beside them and opened fire. Tupac was hit multiple times and was rushed to hospital. He died a week later.
He was 25 years old.
Despite global attention on the shooting, no arrests have ever been made. Las Vegas police have stated in the past that the investigation into the shooting stalled due to witnesses refusing to co-operate, however they remain hopeful.
While almost three decades has passed since the killing of Tupac Shakur, earlier this week the Las Vegas metropolitan police department executed a search warrant in the nearby city of Henderson in connection with the shooting. It remains unclear what they were searching for.
Spokesperson, Aden OcampoGomez, said that they couldn't provide further details on this recent development as the case remains open, reports The Guardian.
Despite Shakur's premature death his music continues to be played worldwide and at the time of writing he has sold more than 33 million albums and has been streamed over 10 billion times online.
