Piers Morgan has claimed that Arsenal would’ve won the league had they signed Cristiano Ronaldo.

Arsenal have almost certainly missed out on the Premier League title after a shocking 3-0 defeat at home to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday has left title rivals needing just one more win – providing Mikel Arteta’s side don’t drop anymore points – to retain their crown.

Morgan, a boyhood Gunners fan and huge admirer of Ronaldo, has longed for the Portugal international to come to the Emirates and even made an attempt to convince him during an interview in 2019.

Following their collapse at the weekend, Morgan believes their fortunes would’ve changed had the 38-year-old took him up on his pleas.

He tweeted: “Mock all you like, but if we’d signed Ronaldo when he left Utd, until the end of the season – as he was keen to do btw – we would have won the League.

“He knows how to win major trophies, and how to score goals when it really matters.”

After leaving Manchester United in November Ronaldo opted to make the move to Saudi Arabia after interest from the likes of Roma and Paris-Saint Germain where he joined Al Nassr and has scored 12 goals in 13 league games for the club.

Back in January, Morgan told TalkSPORT that Ronaldo would’ve even considered moving to the Scottish Premiership.

“Ronaldo would have gone anywhere that had Champions League football,” the Talk TV host said.

“I know for a fact because he repeatedly told me what he really wanted to do was extend his Champions League career.

“He has most of the records in the Champions League and he wants to extend them, probably so that Messi can’t catch him and that he ends up as the GOAT of Champions League football.”
