After watching Sheeran address the crowd on Saturday, September 19, Morgan suggested that the singer appeared uncomfortable and overly reliant on the autocue.

He made post on X (formerly Twitter), describing Sheeran as looking like “some bullied puppet”.

Morgan’s criticism came after a difficult few days for Sheeran, with the singer facing growing pressure over Macklemore’s departure from the Loop Tour.

Macklemore had been removed after speaking in support of Palestine during an earlier show and later claimed that Robert Kraft, whose company owns Gillette Stadium, personally contacted Sheeran to say he would not be allowed to perform at the venue.

Sheeran had previously made it clear that he did not want to become part of a public argument over the war in Gaza, saying the decision to remove Macklemore was “the promoter’s decision”.

But the situation continued to unravel when the tour’s other support acts also withdrew.

That left Sheeran facing the Philadelphia crowd on Saturday night with the controversy still hanging over the tour.

He used the show to address the backlash, apologising to fans and admitting that he had made difficult decisions and mistakes.

He also broke his silence on the wider conflict, condemning the October 7 attack in Israel and the violence at the music festival as horrific, while describing what is happening in Gaza as “catastrophic and unjustifiable and disproportionate”.
