Man writes obituary for his dad so brutal, the newspaper that ran it had to apologise

A man's brutal obituary about his late father was so damning that the paper that actually published it had to apologise. Newspaper chain Gannett issued a statement after publishing the overtly negative obit in a local outlet after its writer, the son of an NYPD cop, heavily criticised his "abusive alcoholic father" who loved "himself" more than his children. Credit: First Coast News[/caption] Printed in local outlet The Florida Times-Union, Lawrence Pfaff Jr. said the following about his father: “He is survived by his three children, no four. Oops, five children. Well as of 2022 we believe there is one more that we know about, but there could be more. “His love was abundant when it came to himself, but for his children it was limited. From a young age, he was a ladies’ man and an abusive alcoholic, solidifying his commitment to both with the path of destruction he left behind, damaging his adult children, and leaving them broken.” Speaking to First Coast News, Gannett stated: “We regrettably published an obituary that did not adhere to our guidelines and we are looking into the matter further. Pfaff Jr. says that his childhood trauma has not only done signifiant damage to him and his other siblings as adults but conversely that his honest expression was noted and appreciated by others who had experienced similar relationships with their parents.
