Adam Johnson looks like he isn't strapped for cash despite being behind bars for child sex offences against a teenage fan.
The former Sunderland player was jailed for six years for grooming and sexual activity with the young supporter in the back in his Range Rover, following a Bradford Crown Court trial earlier this year.
The Black Cats sacked the former England midfielder who was on a reported £60,000-a-week deal at the North East club after he pleaded guilty to two charges before the trial began.
There have been reports that Johnson has taken on a £20-a-week job cutting hair while serving his sentence at Moorland prison near Hatfield in South Yorkshire.
But if reports in the Daily Star are accurate, Johnson sounds like he's still pulling in some serious money despite his Sunderland career ending after his child sex conviction.
The paper claim that the former Manchester City star will earn £250,000 every year he is locked up behind bars.
He is reportedly to have invested his £5million fortune in property and high-interest funds before being sent down.
That means he will be pulling in £5,000 a week from his investment portfolio without even kicking a ball.
A source said: “He earned big money for years and had a good team of financial advisers.
“He had the big footballer house and the cars but he’s never been really super-flamboyant with his cash. He’ll still be an extremely wealthy man when he is freed.’’
