A note that was discovered in Stephen Paddock’s hotel room contained calculations about where he needed to aim to maximise his accuracy and kill as many people as possible.

Paddock, 64, killed 58 people from the 32nd floor room in the Mandalay Bay Hotel after he opened fire on a crowd of more than 20,000 people that were attending the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival.

In an interview with the US TV show “60 Minutes,” the police officers who stormed Paddock’s hotel room were speaking about the incident. These officers were also the first people to see Paddock’s body and the array of weapons that he had stockpiled.

Officer David Newton said: “I could see on it he had written the distance, the elevation he was on, the drop of what his bullet was gonna be for the crowd. So he had that written down and figured out so he would know where to shoot to hit his targets from there.”

The note was found on Paddock’s nightstand.

Speaking about the moment they entered Paddock’s room, Newton said that it was “very eerie. Yeah, the dust from the explosive breach. And then you have the flashing lights. And that looked straight, like, out of a movie, you know?”

The note was found along with 23 firearms, ammo and the killer’s body. Paddock took his own life before authorities arrived to the suite.
