Nigel Farage slams Donald Trump’s ‘unacceptable’ Ukraine deal

“I am waiting to see a counter-proposal from Zelensky’s government.”

Farage, who has backed Ukraine's opposition to the deal, criticised Trump's demand that the country must half the size of its army.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Farage said that the terms on offer to Kyiv were 'not acceptable'.

This news comes after the Trump administration tabled a 28-point peace plan designed to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The plan would force Ukraine to hand over land to Russia and has been described as a 'capitulation' to the Kremlin.

Ukraine would also have to reduce its army from a million active personnel to 600,000.

Speaking about the war back in March, Farage said: "It’s quite right to aim for peace, but we can’t have a peace that turns Putin into a winner, so I would not be 100 per cent with where his team is right now, absolutely not.”

Speaking about this week's plan, Farage told The Telegraph: "I don’t think Ukraine being asked to halve the size of their army is acceptable.

“I am waiting to see a counter-proposal from Zelensky’s government.”
