The messages were allegedly sent in 2011, when Maynard - now 22 - was 17. The girl was 14 at the time, though there is no suggestion that Maynard was aware of the girl's age.
The report adds that the new information explains why Maynard had been allowed to stay after he apologised for old racist and homophobic tweets in a statement, only to be withdrawn from camp on Tuesday.
The Facebook account associated with the messages is said to have been deleted on Wednesday.
At the time of writing, Maynard is yet to respond to the allegation.
