The names of the two students killed in Nottingham have been revealed as Grace Kumar and Barnaby Webber.

They were stabbed to death by a random man in Ilkeston Road in one of three linked incidents in the city early Tuesday.

Both lived in the same halls of residence and were just minutes away from arriving home after a night out.

An eyewitness to a series of attacks in Nottingham has told of hearing “blood-curdling screams” and seeing the attacker stab two people outside his window.

A third man in his 50s was also killed in the attack, but he has not yet been named by authorities.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Tributes have poured in for the two Nottingham University students killed in the horror rampage.

It was reported that Grace, 19, was a hockey player for the university’s first team and had represented England at both under 16s and under 18s level.

The Mail reported that she attended Bancroft’s Independent school, and was top scorer for England in the 2018-19 season.

At university, she continued to play the sport she loved, including playing for Surbiton ladies’ first team.

In a statement, England Hockey said it was “deeply saddened” by her death, adding: “Grace was a popular member of the England U16 and U18 squads and our thoughts are with Grace’s family, friends, teammates and the whole hockey community at this time.”

Woodford Wells Cricket Club also paid tribute to Grace, describing her as a “fiercely competitive, talented and dedicated cricketer and hockey player” who was “fun, friendly and brilliant”.

And Southgate Hockey Club said it was “shocked and devastated” by the death of the “much loved” team member.”

Barney, who has a younger brother Charles, was a talented hockey player and celebrated winning the under-14 county championship with schoolmates in 2018.

In a statement, his family said: “Complete devastation is not enough to describe our pain and loss at the senseless murder of our son.

“At 19 he was just at the start of his journey into adulthood and was developing into a wonderful young man.

“As parents we are enormously proud of everything he achieved and all the plans he had made.

“His brother is bereft beyond belief, and at this time we ask for privacy as a family to be allowed time to process and grieve.”

He played cricket as an all-rounder for Somerset side Bishops Hull and was man of the match in his last game on  June 4.

In their own tribute, the club said: “‘Webbs’ joined the club back in 2021 and has since then been a key part of our club and made such an impact in such a short space of time.”

Grace’s dad is thought to be Dr Sanjoy Kumar, who saved victims of a gang stabbing in Chingford, Essex, in 2009.

He helped move three knifed teens, aged 15, 16 and 17 to a makeshift trauma room in his surgery before 999 crews arrived.

It is understood Barney and Grace met through their shared love of hockey.
