Johnny Depp in talks to bring back Jack Sparrow to life

The Paramount picture classic Pirates of the Caribbean is set to be back on the big screen for a 6th edition.

Top Gun producer Jerry Bruckheimer said that Johnny Depp is in talks to make a return as the most popular pirate in movie history, as per D23.

“We're talking with Johnny, we’re working on a screenplay, and hopefully we can get this done,” said Bruckheimer.

The plot is said to revolve around Margot Robbie’s character as the protagonist, while Depp’s sparrow would be the supportive character.

Through all five movies, the last rendition of Dead Men Tell No Tales was the lowest grossing of the franchise, coming at £586.9 million ($795.9 million).

However, bringing back Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow as the sidekick to a new protagonist could be a sign that the franchise is looking to evolve.

Altogether, the franchise grossed over £3.3 billion ($4.5 billion) over all five films.

While the franchise looked to be done after the 5th edition in 2017, a revival of the Pirates movies could be promising for Paramount.

Bruckheimer has been vocal on David Ellison’s merger of Paramount and Warner Bros, bringing two of the industry’s major production studios together.

“He’s going to make 30 movies a year, and that would be fantastic,” said the producer.

As the studios merger has undergone, expect more movies of this caliber to release, including a potential continuation to the Pirates of the Caribbean going further than a sixth edition.
