The performer, real name Kirshnik Khari Ball, best known as a member of hip hop trio Migos, along with his uncle Quavo and first cousin, Offset, was shot around 2.30am at a bowling alley called 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston.

TMZ said Takeoff and Quavo were playing dice when an altercation broke out and shots were fired. Takeoff was reportedly shot in the head, or near his head, and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Around around 40 people witnessed the shooting, according to law enforcement.

As news of the musician’s death spread across social media, the rap world once again lamented the senseless shooting that has claimed so many young stars’ lives.

Among them was Desiigner who could be seen crying and saying he’s “done” after hearing the news of his friend’s death.

As he cries in a video he shared on Instagram, the rapper can be heard shouting “Why, why, why do we do this? Why do we do this?”

Desiigner’s sentiments were shared by many others, like journalist Jemele Hill, who tweeted: “I was in college when Biggie and ‘Pac were killed and thought there was no way we’d ever experience anything remotely close to that again.

“Now it’s happening so frequently that you barely have time to recover before someone else killed. RIP Takeoff.”
