Lucas leaves after three series

Matt Lucas has confirmed that he has left his role as a presenter of the Great British Bake Off after three series on the show. The comedian has co-hosted the Channel 4 show alongside Noel Fielding since 2020 but has decided to call it a day on the popular programme. In a statement posted to social media on Tuesday, Lucas cited his heavy workload - he also presents the Fantasy Football League on Sky Sports - as the reason for stepping back. He said: "Farewell Bake Off! It's been a delicious experience and I can't imagine a more fun way of spending my summers. "But it's become clear to me that I can't present both Fantasy Football League and Bake Off alongside all my other projects. "So, after three series and 51 episodes, I am cheerfully passing the baguette on to someone else. "I would like to give my warmest thanks and gratitude to everyone at Love Productions and Channel 4 and to Noelipops, Paul, Dame Prue, the crew and, of course, the wonderful bakers for welcoming me into the tent. "I wish whoever takes over the very best and I can't wait to tune into the next series without already knowing who won!" https://twitter.com/RealMattLucas/status/1600188326979551234 Lucas' fellow presenters also paid tribute to the 48-year-old and wished him well in his new ventures. Paul Hollywood tweeted: "You will be missed @RealMattLucas, good luck with everything you’ve got planned … you’ve been awesome." https://twitter.com/RealMattLucas/status/1600201187512311808 Dame Prue Leith also paid tribute, saying: "I have absolutely loved working with you @RealMattLucas. Thank you for bringing so much laughter and fun to the tent. x Prue." https://twitter.com/PrueLeith/status/1600193034347368448 Related links:
