Turkey is invading Syria. The northeastern region of the country is home to the Kurds, the West's allies on the ground in the fight against ISIS.
The Kurdish SDF fought some of the bloodiest battles against the Islamic fundamentalists and until recently enjoyed the protection of US forces stationed along Syria's border with Turkey.
