Jamie Carragher has broken his silence over the viral David Coote video in which he appeared to call Liverpool "sh*t" as well as label Jurgen Klopp a "German c*nt".
On Monday the PGMOL suspended Coote and launched an investigation into the referee while today, after The Sun released a new video in which he appears to be consuming a white powder, UEFA launched their own investigation.
Yesterday Carragher's co-presenter and often antagonist Gary Neville gave his thoughts on the ordeal, saying he saw nothing wrong with Coote's comments.
However, this was before the surfacing of the more recent video which was alleged by The Sun to be from July 6 when he was acting as support VAR at Euro 2024.
Many people have been waiting with anticipation to hear from Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher with some going as far as to accuse the pundit of hiding away from the controversy.
Now the former centre-back has broken his silence on the Overlap and Liverpool fans might be disappointed with his response.
Carragher addressed the situation on a new episode of The Overlap's Stick to Football which was recorded between the emergence of the two videos.
He said: "The fact that it [the Liverpool video] has come out four years after lockdown, for someone to have kept that and put it out now.
"People do stupid things. You've had a few drinks, and you wake up in the morning to delete that or whatever - but for someone to keep that is just... he [Coote] has had a nightmare. When the fella is saying what he said to the camera, just end the recording.
"I can't imagine what the fella [Coote] is going through now, and I don't want that cancel culture, but how can he now ref a rival? It's not just that he can't referee Liverpool, how does he referee Everton? The amount of eyes you get.
"The thing I despise most about social media is when a referee makes a decision and that whole fan base [is bickering].
"But also, did people not think that referees thought that about people anyway?"
Coote remains suspended while investigations continue.
