It looks like we’re one step closer to overnight London Underground services

Tom Victor

The London Underground’s ‘Night Tube’ plans were originally scheduled for last autumn, but we’re still waiting.

Strikes and disputes over pay and working conditions delayed the launch of the service, designed to run overnight services on several tube lines every Friday and Saturday.

But it seems we may have had a breakthrough which could bring the launch that bit closer.

Members of the RMT union have voted in favour of a new proposed settlement, while fellow union Aslef is also expected to approve the proposals with a majority potentially even higher than the RMT’s 84%.

“I want to pay tribute to RMT’s members across London Underground who have stood rock solid throughout the long campaign of industrial pressure to secure a fair deal from the company over pay and night tube operation,” general secretary Mick Cash said.
