Insulate Britain block roundabout in London

Ambulances appear to have been blocked by Insulate Britain’s latest protest

Insulate Britain protestors have descended upon a major roundabout in central London, just a couple of hundred yards from a hospital, as part of yet another protest.

Footage online of this morning’s protest (October 8) shows about a dozen protestors sitting in the middle of Old Street holding signs. The protest has taken place near to Moorfields Eye Hospital and ambulances can be seen caught up in the traffic along with buses and exasperated commuters.

According to the Metro, some of the group have also returned to the M25, therefore breaching a High Court junction banning the group from blocking motorways.

The protest in London has led to around 30 buses being backed up, although the road is now reopening.

One tradesman at the front of queue was shouting “f*cking idiots, please let me get to work” whilst he was on FaceTime to his boss to prove he was in traffic not just late.

Officers can be seen trying to drag protestors from the road but quickly becoming overwhelmed by their numbers as some manage to block the road.

This is now the 12th time that the group have managed to disrupt a road or motorway in recent weeks.

A spokeswoman for the group said: “If governments don’t act soon to reduce emissions, we face a terrifying situation.

“We won’t be worrying about shortages of pasta or loo rolls because law and order breaks down pretty quickly when there is not enough food to go round.”

“The Government won’t be wondering if there are enough hospital beds or ventilators, but whether there are enough people left to bury the dead.

“The Government is destroying our country. Boris Johnson should be taken to court for treason. Our flesh and blood are being tossed aside as expendable.”

The group also posted footage on their Twitter account saying that they have a “Blue Lights” policy which means they always “move out of the way for emergency vehicles with ‘blue lights’ on.”

This latest protest comes just days after Home Secretary Priti Patel announced she would be giving police extra powers to stop disruptive protestors from being able to attend demonstrations.

This week, Boris Johnson also labelled Insulate Britain protestors as “irresponsible crusties.”
