It faces an uncertain future

UK high streets could soon be left without a historic family-owned shoe brand, as 450 jobs are put at risk.

The 37 Russell & Bromley stores across the UK could see a major shift, with Next joining forces with stock clearance specialist Retail Realisation to takeover the company.

As the luxury shoe and bag retailer is pursuing a takeover, the future of the 150-year-old company now remains uncertain.

It is believed that Next will acquire only the Russell & Bromley brand and intellectual property, as per reports from The Telegraph.

And now it is reported that Retail Realisation will oversee the closure of the chain’s remaining stores.

Russell & Bromley first opened in Eastbourne, East Sussex in 1880, following the marriage of shoemaking heirs Elizabeth Russell and George Bromley.

Andrew Bromley currently runs the retailer, as the fifth generation of his family to take charge of the company.
