Several gunshots have been fired outside the Houses of Parliament.

At least one person was shot by police after reportedly rushing the gates on Wednesday afternoon. https://twitter.com/Reuters/status/844561192685330434 There are also reports that the man was seen carrying a knife within the grounds of the Palace of Westminster, which is currently on lockdown. Eyewitness reports claim that a car was involved in the major security alert, with suggestions that a loud crash preceded the gunshots.
