Hollywood actor Kevyn Major Howard, best known for his portrayal as Rafterman in Full Metal Jacket, has died aged 69.
The actor's family revealed in a statement that he had after suffering from major respiratory issues in recent weeks.
Howard died Friday at a hospital in Las Vegas.
In the Stanley Kubrick war classic, Howard played a Vietnam War correspondent by the name of Rafterman. In the climax of the film, Rafterman shoots a sniper before she can kill more of their squad.
According to reports by TMZ, the movie star was surrounded by his friends and family at the time of his passing.
Howard also appeared in Brian De Palma's Scarface, the Clint Eastwood thriller Sudden Impact and Charles Bronson's Death Wish II.
As well as being a famous actor, Howard was also an accomplished photographer.
He worked as a photographer for over 36 years during which he shot actors, musicians, and business professionals.
In the BBC show The Human Face, Howard was described as the "King of the Hollywood headshot" after becoming the leading headshot photographer in the business after retiring from acting.
