Paul Robson was serving time for attempted rape and indecent assault
A fugitive sex offender serving a life sentence has been arrested in Skegness after being on the run since Sunday.
Paul Robson, who was serving time for attempted rape and indecent assault, was reported missing from HMP North Sea Camp in Boston, Lincolnshire, where he was moved last month.
East area commander chief superintendent Kate Anderson confirmed on Thursday that Robson had been found following a public appeal.
"We are pleased to report that we have arrested Paul Robson. Police release new images of sex offender who absconded from open prison," she said in a statement.
"We are grateful to members of the public for their help and support in sharing our appeals and we'd also like to give thanks to everyone who has called in with potential sightings of him.
"We'd also like to extend our thanks to partner agencies and our officers for working tirelessly to apprehend Robson."
Robson was jailed for life in 2000 after he crawled into a woman's home through her cat flap and attacked her while holding a knife to her throat. The 56-year-old put a pillowcase over her head during the assault.
At the time Robson absconded, Lincolnshire Police warned: "If you do see him, please do not try to approach him, or try to apprehend him yourself. He poses a real risk to the public."
Robson was denied parole five times before being moved to an open prison last month.
