Dylann Roof, who killed nine people in the Charleston church shooting last year, has been sentenced to death following a unanimous jury verdict.

Roof, now 22, confessed to wanting to start a "race war" with the shooting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in South Carolina. A jury was tasked with deciding whether he would be handed the death penalty or life in prison, with the former only possible with a unanimous decision. https://twitter.com/ChadKMills/status/818938006312779778 https://twitter.com/WLTX/status/818938158557622274 The jury was asked to weigh a number of factors before reaching their decision, and ultimately found that all the below criteria for the death penalty had been met. https://twitter.com/ChadKMills/status/818937274364755971
