Sad news.

Drag Race star Misua had died aged 27 just before she was to appear in a new series of the popular TV show.

Misua, whose real name is Jason Elvie Ty, was set to appear in the fourth season of Drag Race Philippines as per a statement issued by World of Wonder, the production team behind the show.

It read: "We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented queen set to appear on season four of Drag Race Philippines, passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2. She brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her, and she will be deeply missed.

"We have paused production to care for and support our cast and crew during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who loved her. We are in contact with her family, who have asked for privacy during this hard time."

Misua's family shared a tribute on Facebook, writing: "Jayson was our dearly loved son, brother, friend, mentor, and most of all, Jayson is a star. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and close friends."

Misua, according to her bio, was a much-loved drag queen who described herself, saying: "[A] Talented and deeply creative queen from Cagayan de Oro, whose drag was rooted in fashion, artistry, and self-expression.

"A graphic designer by profession and a performer for eight years, she is known for creating nearly every aspect of her drag herself — from her outfits, hair, and nails to props and visual content — reflecting her extraordinary creativity and eye for detail."

The bio adds: "A proud member of Haus of LaFeya, Misua finds strength in community and in being surrounded by like-minded artists who share her passion for growth, ambition, and creativity. Her drag name, inspired by her grandfather's comfort food, speaks to the personal and heartfelt nature of her artistry."

It continued: "Known for her striking visuals, fashion-forward perspective, and magnetic presence, Misua brings light, joy, and ambition to everyone around her. She sees herself as both a creative force and a star, with a dream of inspiring others to work hard for what they want and to hold on to their dreams."

Several drag queens shared their condolences after learning of the news.

Hannah Conda, who finished runner up on season two of Ru Paul’s Drag Race said: "Absolutely heartbreaking! My thoughts are with my Filo family. I love you all and sending my love! She was an absolute star!"

Cheryl, who was a contestant on the UK version in 2019, said: "My thoughts are with everyone, especially Misua & her loved ones,’ as Blu Hydrangea added: ‘Devastating! Sending all my love to everyone involved."
