DaBaby disappears from Parklife festival lineup after on-stage homophobic rant

Rapper DaBaby had appeared at the Rolling Loud festival in Miami when he made overtly homophobic comments. When asking partiers to raise their phone in the air, he added that people shouldn't do it if they were HIV-positive or gay men who had had sex with another man in a car park. https://www.instagram.com/p/CRxlVQMHzhP/

Speaking to the crowd, he said: "If you didn't show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that'll make you die in two or three weeks, put your cellphone light in the air.

"Ladies, if your p***y smell like water, put your cellphone light in the air. Fellas, if you ain't suck a n****'s d**k in the parking lot, put your cellphone lights in the air. Keep it f*****g real."

The rapper has since faced immense criticism from music behemoths like Elton John, Madonna, and Dua Lipa. "We must break down the stigma around HIV and not spread it. I really don't recognize this as the person I worked with. "I know my fans know where my heart lies and that I stand 100% with the LGBTQ community. We need to come together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV/AIDS," Dua Lipa said, also removing her collab with him from Apple Music. Parklife has also seemingly dropped the rapper following his comments. In a last-minute scramble to regain some credibility, the rapper has attempted to apologise on Twitter:

A rep for DaBaby claimed to TMZ that the rapper wasn't dropped from the festival because of his comments. They said he pulled out of the festival months ago when events were being canceled because of COVID.

The festival had promoted DaBaby as a performer as recently as 14th July, but the rep says that was solely a mistake made by the festival, the rapper was "already out".
