Local police are looking into Ronaldo’s reported trip to the resort town

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly the subject of a police investigation over a trip to a ski resort which could have broken Italy’s Covid-19 regulations.

According to the news agency ANSA, local police are looking into his visit to the ski resort town of Courmayeur earlier this week, where he went with girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez to celebrate her birthday.

The town is situated in the Aosta Valley, two hours’ drive from Turin and near the French border. The area is currently out of bounds to outsiders with the region classified as being in Italy’s medium-to-high risk orange zone – unless you have a second home in the area.

To reach the town, Ronaldo would have had to cross the regional border between Piedmont and Valle D’Aosta, therefore breaching regulations.

Other reports in Italy claimed the pair stayed in a hotel together which would have been officially closed. Footage which was circulated online also showed the pair riding on a snowmobile.

Ronaldo could face a fine of €400 (£354) if he is found to have broken rules.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid was absent for Juve’s Coppa Italia quarter final game with SPAL on Wednesday, with his side winning 4-0 after resting several first team regulars.
