A TikTok couple who have been together for two years have shared the nail biting moment where a DNA test revealed whether or not they were actually siblings.
Posting under the shared handle @CarleyAndMercedes, the couple, who post regularly on the platform and have attracted over one million followers as a result, had been sharing insights to their daily lives in Ontario, Canada.
However the duo recently became concerned that they could actually be half-siblings after learning that their individual mothers had each had a sexual encounter with the same man in the past.
Throw the fact that the pair actually kind of look alike into the mix, and this mindless wondering quickly shifted gears from being a far-fetched joke to something that could maybe be true.
They even shared the discovery online in a post with a caption that read: “siblings or dating plot twist.. maybe both???”

Their fans were eager to learn the answer to this potentially life-altering question too, which led Carley and Mercedes to do a DNA test in an attempt to find out once and for all.
“You look almost identical, there’s no way that you aren’t sisters” said one seemingly-convinced follower.

With the test sent off, the pair returned to doing what they do best – mainly posting TikToks – until the results arrived, and when they were back, they made sure their fans found out at the same time that they did.

Appearing stoney faced and clearly quite tense, the duo proceed to read the results and are elated to discover that they’re not actually siblings after all.
“No relatives found,” they say amid hearty sighs of relief.
Phew.
Their fans were equally happy, with one gushing: “YAYYYYY IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH!! I bet that this is just a massive weight off your shouldersssss.”
“That’s awesome! So happy for you two!” said another.
“Y’all really just found your doppelgänger and fell in love,” offered a thid.
