The Prince and Princess of Wales brought their three children to watch some of the final events at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday. George, Charlotte and Louis joined William and Kate at the city’s OVO Hydro for the netball semi-finals, where cheering crowds saw New Zealand beat England 61-54.
Known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay while in Scotland, the couple spent time meeting athletes, staff and volunteers during a blustery visit to the venue on the River Clyde. They then made their way to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, where they chatted to British cyclist Laura Kenny and sat one row behind Olympic cycling champion Sir Chris Hoy. The family also met gold medal-winning para powerlifter Mark Swan and gymnast Reuben Ward, while Kate and Charlotte posed for photos with the Team Scotland netball players who had lost to Uganda on Thursday.
The visit capped what has been a memorable summer of sport for Team Scotland and the home nations in Glasgow. As the BBC reported, the young royals were treated to netball and track cycling on the penultimate day of competition. The Games conclude on Sunday.
