The dog has been 'destroyed' after the tragic incident on Monday afternoon

A 10-year-old boy in Caerphilly has died after being the victim of a dog attack in his own home. The incident took place in the Pentwyn area of Caerphilly on Monday afternoon (November 8). Police and paramedics were called to the address but the boy was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Gwent Police released a statement that confirmed the tragedy. It reads: "We were called to an address in Pentwyn, Penyrhoel, Caerphilly at around 3.55pm on Monday 8 November, following reports of a dog attack. "Officers attended, including specially-trained firearms officers, alongside paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service, who confirmed that a 10-year-old boy had died at the scene. "The dog was destroyed by firearms officers and no other animals were involved in the attack." https://twitter.com/gwentpolice/status/1457800779339759625 Chief Superintendent Mark Hobrough added: "Officers will be making further enquiries at this time and will remain at the scene as the investigation progresses. "It is possible that you may see ongoing police activity in Caerphilly as part of this work. You may have also seen an increased presence earlier today while officers were attending the incident, but please do not be alarmed. "If you have concerns or information then please do stop and talk with us." One neighbour told the WalesOnline they had "never seen anything like it before in my life", describing it as "horrific." Local councillor Steve Skivens said it was a "tragic, tragic loss of a young life" and offered his condolences to the boy's family and friends.
