She’s reportedly sold the property for a tidy profit
Amber Heard has reportedly decided to sell her beloved home in California just a couple of months after being ordered to pay Johnny Depp $8.35m.
At the start of June, the actress was found guilty of having defamed her former husband Depp. and as a result must pay him $8m in compensatory damages and $350,000 damages.
However, Heard has claimed she does not have the funds to pay the amount in full.
Now, TMZ reports that she has sold her home in the Californian desert for almost double the price she bought it for.
Heard has reportedly sold her Yucca Valley home for $1.05m, handing her a profit on the property of roughly $480,000.
The home is said to have been purchased in 2019 through an anonymous trust with ties to the Aquaman star.
It is not known whether her decision to sell the property is related to the amount she owes Depp.
Ever since the verdict of her trial with Depp, Heard’s legal team have claimed the actress is unable to pay the $8.35m she owes him in damages.
On July 21, Heard’s team officially appealed against the ruling, claiming that errors made during the trial had prevented a “just and fair verdict” from being returned.
And the next day, Depp’s team filed an appeal against the court’s decision to award Heard $2m in damages.
Before these appeals, Heard had been denied a request for a mistrial. Her team argued that one of the jurors on the case was not eligible to serve because his summons had been intended for his father, who has the same name and lives at the same address.
