Alex Beresford finally responds to Piers Morgan after their feud

The GMB weatherman called out Morgan for "trashing" Meghan Markle, causing him to leave the set and the show

For many people across the UK, Alex Beresford is the man of the moment. He has been applauded for speaking out against Piers Morgan after his rant on Megan Markle earlier this week. https://twitter.com/alexberesfordTV/status/1369268366586839041?s=20 Some people have even called for him to replace the former presenter as co-host. Equally, at least 80,000 people have signed a petition to have Piers reinstated. Again, worth clarifying that he wasn't sacked, he quit... Nevertheless, after having responded to Morgan's initial storm off mid-programme, Beresford took to Twitter once again. This time, he chose to issue a fuller, more diplomatic statement. Beresford begins by saying that this "sincerely wasn't the conclusion [he] was hoping for". However, despite their usual "lively, cheeky, on-air relationship [...] both knew how strongly [their] opinions differed". He goes on to say: "I hoped we could reach a place of understanding. It's sad we weren't able to get there, but challenging his opinion wasn't an outrage". As he said during the on-air strop, Morgan had been allowed to impose his opinions on viewers and colleagues alike on a regular basis for years. That being said, it seems a bit rich that he wasn't willing to listen to more than a minute of anyone without storming off set. He closed his statement by reiterating that he "didn't want him to quit, but [he] did want him to listen".
