After Piers Morgan stormed out of this morning's show, Beresford called him ‘diabolical’ live on-air and he’s not stopped there…

“I wish I had the privilege to sit on the fence.”

Alex Beresford has spoken out following the unsavoury scenes on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday.

During the first hour of the show, anchor Piers Morgan stormed off during a measured and impassioned analysis from Beresford of Morgan’s conduct in his reporting of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Beresford said: “And I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle. You’ve made it so clear, a number of times on this programme. A number of times.

“And I understand that you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off, she’s entitled to cut you off, if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has. But yet you continue to trash her.”

It was at that point that Morgan decided to stage one of his public pant-shittings, as he refused to take on board some constructive feedback after years of publicly trashing Meghan Markle – the worst of which came on Monday when he said he did not believe her when she said that she had felt suicidal.

Beresford described Morgan’s behaviour as “diabolical.”

A few hours later, Beresford took to Twitter to address the matter.

“I wish I had the privilege to sit on the fence,” he said.

“In order for me to do that I would have to strip myself of my identity and that’s not something I can do.

“It’s not any of our places to pick apart claims of racism in order to make us feel more comfortable,” he concluded, adding a love heart.

At the time of writing the tweet has received a whopping 93,000 likes and counting.

Morgan has faced calls to be sacked after his comments on Meghan Markle since the airing of her interview with Oprah Winfrey. Mental Health charity Mind condemned his comments.
