Tragic news
A 16-year-old boy tragically died at the Leeds Festival this weekend.
The teenager fell ill on the second last day of the event (Saturday, August 27th) and was taken to the festival’s medical tent.
His condition deteriorated and was taken to hospital but later died.
Assistant Chief Constable Catherine Hankinson said in a statement: “While the exact cause of his death is yet to be established, one line of enquiry is that he had taken a particular type of ecstasy (MDMA) tablet, which was described as a grey or black oblong shape.
“At this moment in time this is believed to be an isolated incident as we have not received any similar reports.”

According to Sky News, police say there haven’t been any other instances like this for the 2022 festival.
They believe this is an isolated incident.
The 16-year-old boy’s parents have been informed of the tragic death as police continue their investigation.
They’ve also contacted the festival organisers to see if there is any information that can help their inquiry.
Assistant Chief Constable Catherine Hankinson cautioned festival goers about ingesting illicit substances.
“Users of any drug which is not professionally prescribed can never be sure of their contents and the risks involved with taking the substance,” she said.
“Anyone who does feel ill after taking any substance should seek urgent medical attention.
“We are continuing to conduct enquiries on site and are liaising closely with the event organisers.”
Leeds Festival ended on Sunday August 28 after running for three days.
Halsey, Dave and the Arctic Monkeys were the three headliners for the event for 2022, with up to 100,000 people attending on each day.
