The initiative will help aspiring authors and poets

Stormzy has announced a collaboration with Penguin Random House in the form of Merky Books.

Merky Books’ aim will be to give aspiring authors an outlet to become published writers of fiction, non fiction, novels, sci-fi, and poems.

It has also been announced that Merky Books will be offering a paid internship in 2019.

Stormzy’s book, ‘Rise Up’, which is out November 1, will be the first book published under the imprint Merky Books.

While the campaign will involve the organisation of school competitions which will help identify talented writers looking for opportunities, further information will be released in 2019.

Discussing the launch, Stormzy explained how reading and writing had a major impact on him as a child, before admitting that he hopes Merky Books would hepp the next generation of talented writers and poets who don’t have the means or opportunities to become published authors.

“Merky Books can now be a reference point for them to say ‘I can be a author’ and for that to be a realistic and achievable goal,” he said.

The initiative has been met with a hugely positive response, with a number of fans praising him for his work in the comments of his Instagram post confirming it.
