Fan left fuming after being told newborn required £90 ticket to attend Pink concert

Charlie Herbert

A family going to a Pink concert were left speechless when they were told they would need to buy a $180 (£90) ticket for their 9-week-old baby to attend.

One of the family members, a man from Sydney, told 7NEWS that he messaged the venue, Accor Stadium, to see if his sister could bring a nappy bag along with her baby to Pink’s show, which was part of the So What singer’s Summer Carnival tour.

He asked: “Can you tell me whether we will be allowed to bring a nappy bag? Also, just confirming [the baby] won’t need a ticket?”

He explained that he and his family were attending the popstar’s Summer Carnival concert and had no one to look after the baby.

But he was stunned when the venue got back to him and told him: “There is no issue bringing a nappy bag, but all attendees must have a ticket to enter, regardless of age.”

The man, who chose to remain anonymous, pointed out that the concert was already sold out and labelled the policy a “disgrace”, but Accor weren’t backing down, replying: “That is correct and the age policy set for this show by the promoter.”

However, after the man took his story to the press in Australia, the venue decided to row back on its policy.

Along with allowing the baby free entry, they also upgraded the family’s seats and gave them better parking at the stadium.

The man said it was a “wonderful outcome.”

According to Accor’s website, for “most sporting events very young children, 3 and under, may be admitted free-of-charge on the provision they are accompanied by an adult and will share their seat and sit on their knee”.
