Pre-season is always the perfect time to blood young footballers and check out talent coming through the ranks.
But this is probably not exactly what Wigan Athletic had in mind.
As James Tavernier was lining up a corner in a friendly match against Altringham FC, a young fan thought he'd chuck his hat in the ring, so to speak.
You can see the youngster legging it along the length of the stand in the background as Tavernier sets up the set piece.
But before he can loft a ball into the box, the wee scamp pops up and gets in there first.
You can hear the laughter from behind the camera, but the defender does not look happy.
He's definitely one for the future.
