In a bid to avoid emotionally unavailable men, a relationship coach has suggested that women should only date men that are ten years older.
Jake Maddock spent years trying to find the right
relationship before cracking the code, or so he says. Now, the Australian "tough love dating coach" claims that relationships between younger men and older women rarely work; here's why.
"Men and women mature emotionally at different times. According to experts, men take about ten years longer to become emotionally mature than for a woman," Maddock, who is now married,
told the Mail Online.
"An older man is likely to be less commitment phobic and more decisive about where he wants to take the relationship. He will also have a more mature viewpoint when it comes to solving problems and relationship issues."
Maddock also believes older men can better access their "masculine energy" by dating younger women.
He explained: "He will have made his mistakes and is unlikely to repeat them. He won't play silly games, he chooses you for better reasons and will appreciate you more."
While Maddock's reasoning seems sound, his evidence rests on Hollywood relationships.
"George Clooney was clearly very careful about the women he chose to date. He was still a bachelor at age 52 when he met Amal Alamuddin in 2013. He is seventeen years her senior, which didn't faze either of them," he cited as evidence.
"Jerry Seinfeld married Jessica Sklar in 1999, when he was 45 and she was 28. They are still together."
He also listed Alec Baldwin, Hilaria Thomas, Harrison Ford, and Calista Flockhart as other examples of flourishing relationships with notable age differences.
But before you run off to the nearest old folks' home looking for Prince Charming, take Maddock's gospel with a pinch of salt because for every solid bit of advice, some of his other tips were a little dated.
For instance, Maddock thinks men should never move in with their female partners. Also, sorry lads, but Maddock thinks you should pay for everything.
