Despite being the mighty fine British delicacy that they are (yes, we did just say 'delicacy'), there's nothing all that complicated about cheesy chips. They are, for those somehow not already aware, chips with a bit of melted cheese over the top... the kind of food that's simple and almost impossible to fuck up... unless, that is, you're one particular branch of Wetherspoons.
A tweet highlighting what can only be described as a crime against cheesy chips has attracted thousands of retweets in recent days. Posted by Angus Scott, the image shows what he was served up when he requested cheesy chips at the Wetherspoons in Edinburgh airport.
He got chips. He got cheese. But judging by the reaction on social media, it's probably fair to say that he also got one of the - if not the - most pathetic servings of cheesy chips the human race has ever seen.

We assume the words accompanying the picture were a joke, but we can't be completely certain.
Despite the uproar, some 'Spoons loyalists have questioned the authenticity of Scott's tweet, pointing out that the plate the food is served on is not actually one used by the chain (imagine reaching a stage where you recognise Wetherspoons plates?).
