The technique has divided opinion, with one person saying the stem part has never broken for them "unless the banana is like rotten". But another said: "I squeeze the bottom and it pops right open and peels easy". A third added: "Monkeys actually open their bananas from "the bottom" too! I've been doing this since I was little when I read/heard about it in school!" Discussing the matter on Good Morning Britain, the Mirror's Kevin Maguire and the Mail's Andrew Pierce seemed less than convinced about the technique. "I've got it in my nails", Maguire said, while Pierce asked: "Why does she think it matters that much?" https://twitter.com/GMB/status/1559419320261902336?s=20&t=2K8KHOn_qBpZGzj_aY8iRQ According to banana brand Chiquita, the “proper” way to peel a banana is actually from the brown tip. They explain: "To open the banana this way, gently but firmly pinch the tip. You’ll find it should split readily in two, though you can always use a fingernail to help the process by carefully levering the tip apart." Who knew!
