Something we always wondered when we were a kid, and now we have an answer.
Alan Murphy and his six-year-old daughter Zara live in Ballyfermot, Dublin, and yesterday decided to conduct something of an experiment with one of Zara's balloons.
They wanted to see how far it would travel when released 'into space,' and the answer is... an awful lot farther than we would have thought.
Alan and Zara launched the balloon at 12.30 on Saturday afternoon and it was found a full eight hours later by a lady walking her dog near Arklow in County Wicklow - over 61km away.
Nice video.
